Frequently Asked Questions
How much do custom built-ins cost?
We frequently work on projects starting in the range between $12,000-$15,000, but every project is different depending on many factors. We price cabinetry per linear foot, and the base rate depends on construction style: frameless, face-frame overlay, or inset. In addition to the linear foot base rate, we charge for additional features, functionality, specialty finishing, and installation to determine the final project price.
Do I get to see the design before you build?
Yes. Every customer that has paid a deposit receives CAD designs with 3D renderings before the project commences. If you hired us just for a design, the design is yours, so you can take it to any builder, though we'd love to build it for you.
Do you build framed or frameless cabinets?
Both. Similar looks can be achieved with both cabinetry styles but come at differing price points based on the amount of time, labor, and material to build each style. Framed cabinets require more material and time to build and, therefore, are priced higher per linear foot, but any style of cabinetry can use any door profile you prefer.
How long does a custom built-in take?
Once we start construction on a project, lead times are typically estimated at 8-10 weeks. This can vary depending on the complexity and size of the project.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Maryland Home Improvement Commission license #05-161229, fully insured.
Do you work with designers and general contractors?
Regularly. We build to designer specs, coordinate with GCs on renovation schedules, and offer CNC cutting for other shops.
Do you only make built-ins or do you work on cabinetry in other areas of the home?
No. We build cabinetry for all rooms of your home. We also built custom custom kitchens, bathroom vanities, custom closet systems, custom mudrooms, and build custom whole home packages.
Will you serve as a General Contractor if there is more to a project that just the cabinets?
No. While we have an MHIC license for the purposes of installing our cabinets in our customers’ homes, we are not General Contractors. Other aspects of your project that are not specific to your cabinet install need to be contracted separately with other qualified tradespeople. We frequently work with other General Contractors, Electricians, Plumbers and are happy to provide recommendations to people we trust to take care of the other aspects of your project.
Do you install or sell cabinets that are not custom?
We only install and sell the custom cabinets that we build in our shop. We take great pride and care as the builder of those cabinets to perform high-end installations with exceptional quality. The best part of that scenario for the homeowner is, if in the rare event we damage a cabinet during a delivery or installation, we have the ability to repair or even remake that piece in our shop within days. When damages happen to mass produced cabinetry, getting the issue resolved can take months if not longer, as you have to go through multiple parties, verify warranties, and hope that someone is there to pick up the phone.
